Dutch politician puts up election posters: „Bitcoin is the future“
„I wanted to have something that would stand out and show people that we see Bitcoin as a solution for a revolution,“ the party leader said.
Robert Valentine, leader of the Libertarian Party in the Netherlands, has put up several pro-crypto posters ahead of Bitcoin Trader the upcoming election there later this week.
In one image shared via Valentine’s Twitter account, the Libertarian Party leader can be seen with laser eyes
Underneath it reads, „Bitcoin is the future“. The party is seeking seats in the House of Representatives in the Netherlands. A general election will be held on 17 March.

„I wanted to have something that would stand out and show people that we’re looking at Bitcoin as a solution to a revolution,“ Valentine said in an interview with crypto-YouTuber BitcoinMeister. „We want a fundamental change in the system, and Bitcoin and blockchain can help with that.“
Any political party in the Netherlands can get one seat in the House of Representatives for every 0.67 per cent of the vote. There are more than 17 million people in the country. About 12.8 million people registered to vote in the last election in 2017. This means that the Libertarian party would probably need between 70,000 to 90,000 votes to win at least one seat for itself. The party currently has no seats in the House of Representatives. Four years ago, it received only 0.01 per cent of the vote.
The libertarian party has publicly stated that it supports Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies. It was one of the first political parties to accept crypto donations in 2013. A release from the party’s Dutch branch said „both gold and bitcoin meet the criteria for a stable currency“.
Profile pictures with „laser eyes“ has become somewhat popular among prominent members of the crypto space. These stand as a symbol of acceptance as well as a generally bullish sentiment. Among the well-known personalities with laser eyes are, for example, Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary, US Senator from Wyoming Cynthia Lummis and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
